Security operatives in Plateau State have arrested armed robbery suspects and recovered illegal firearms in a series of coordinated operations.
The Plateau State Police Command also confirmed the arrest of alleged informants linked to terrorist groups, alongside the recovery of three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and other weapons used for criminal activities.
Parading the suspects and exhibits in Jos, the Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah, said the successes were achieved through credible intelligence supplied by members of the public.
He commended residents for their support, stressing that community cooperation remains vital to ongoing security operations across the state.
Ewah said the Command is committed to protecting lives and property, adding that it remains open to constructive criticism as part of efforts to improve policing standards.
He explained that some of the arrests followed a reported armed robbery incident in Langtang South, which prompted swift action by divisional police officers and operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department.
According to him, the suspects include individuals linked to kidnapping and terrorism-related information sharing, and they will be prosecuted in court.
The police also recovered additional weapons, including locally made revolvers, pistols, and other firearms allegedly used in criminal operations.
Ewah praised the collaboration between the Police Command and the Plateau State Ministry of Justice, particularly the Attorney General’s office, in ensuring diligent prosecution of cases.
He also appreciated the media for their coverage of police activities and urged continued partnership to strengthen security in Plateau State.
The Commissioner assured that all suspects found in illegal possession of firearms would face prosecution, with courts expected to determine the legality of the recovered weapons.
