Authorities in Plateau State have eased curfew restrictions in Jos North after recent violence in the area, following an earlier relaxation of a 48-hour total curfew imposed after the Angwan Rukuba attack, which reportedly claimed 33 lives.
Under the new arrangement, the curfew will now run from 6pm to 6am daily, allowing residents to freely go about their lawful activities between 6am and 6pm.
The adjustment takes effect from Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
The decision was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap.
According to the statement, the relaxation follows what the government described as a relative return of calm in Jos North after the violent incident. It noted that the decision was taken after consultations with relevant security agencies.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang has directed security operatives to strictly enforce the curfew hours to ensure continued safety, protection of lives and property, and sustained peace in the affected areas.
Residents were urged to comply fully with the directive, remain indoors during curfew hours, and cooperate with security personnel.
The government also encouraged the public to provide credible information that could assist ongoing peace and security efforts.
