The directive, issued by the Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on Friday, affects all junior secondary, primary, and day schools across the state. The closure will be implemented in phases, with junior secondary schools shutting from Saturday, November 22, 2025, and primary schools following on Monday, November 24, 2025, following a statewide safety review.
In a statement, SUBEB clarified that the move is a preventive measure. The board reassured the public that “the safety and wellbeing of learners remain a top priority.”
Parents, guardians, and school authorities were strongly urged to adhere to the shutdown directive. “Parents, guardians, school authorities, and community leaders have been urged to comply with the directive and stay vigilant,” the board announced.
