The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has praised the United States for its recent airstrikes against Islamic State militants in North-West Nigeria, describing the action as a crucial boost to the country’s fight against terrorism.
PFN President, Bishop Wale Oke, made the remarks on Sunday in Ibadan, Oyo State, urging President Bola Tinubu to sustain firm action against bandits and terrorist groups. “We commend the United States for cooperating with Nigeria to flush out these criminals. This is not a surrender of our sovereignty; it is a partnership to secure our nation”, he said.
Highlighting insecurity as Nigeria’s most pressing challenge, Bishop Oke warned that leniency could be costly. “Don’t relent until Nigeria is fully secured. Spare no one. Allow no sacred cows. If you don’t bring insecurity down, it will bring this country down”, he added.
The PFN leader also rejected the concept of “repentant terrorists”, stressing that government’s primary duty is justice and security. “If they claim repentance, that is between them and their God. The duty of government is to protect Nigerians and enforce the law”, he said.
Oke called for national unity against all forms of violence, emphasizing that every perpetrator must face justice, irrespective of religion. He commended President Tinubu’s collaboration with international partners, describing it as a strategic step to curb insecurity.
Expressing optimism, the PFN president said that with decisive leadership and collective resolve, Nigeria can overcome banditry and terrorism, ultimately restoring peace and stability to the nation.
