Nigerian musician Peter Okoye has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, key members of boxer Anthony Joshua’s team, who were killed in a road accident in Ogun State.
Ghami, Anthony Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, and Ayodele, his personal trainer, were longtime members of the heavyweight champion’s inner circle and played significant roles in his professional career.
Reacting to the tragedy in a post shared on X, Okoye described the incident as heartbreaking and said he was struggling to come to terms with the loss. He extended his condolences to Joshua, urging him to find strength and comfort during the difficult period.
“This accident has shattered me completely,” Okoye wrote. “Latz and Sina, I can’t believe you’re gone. To my brother Anthony Joshua, my heart breaks for you. They will live forever in our memories and in the love they left behind.”
He also expressed gratitude that Joshua survived the crash, praying that God would grant him comfort, guidance, and the strength to honour the legacy of his late aides.
The fatal accident occurred on Monday along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway when a vehicle conveying Joshua and his team reportedly collided with a stationary truck. The crash claimed the lives of two male foreign nationals, later identified as Ghami and Ayodele.
Joshua and his driver were rescued from the scene and taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
Following the incident, President Bola Tinubu and the Ogun State Government issued condolence messages to Anthony Joshua and the families of the deceased, describing the loss as tragic and deeply painful.
