In a rare coordinated move, Peter Obi support groups, including the Obidient Movement, Big-Tent, Coalition for Protection of Democracy, and Coalition for Peter Obi, have announced the creation of the Quad Steering Committee, designed to standardize operations and strengthen alignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to a statement released on Wednesday, the Committee, chaired by Ibrahim Abdulkarim, will act as a coordination and gatekeeping body, providing structure, discipline, and strategic direction across the various support groups.
Abdulkarim explained that the Committee’s mandate is to translate directives from Peter Obi’s team into actionable, coordinated efforts at both state and grassroots levels, while promoting message discipline, unity, and efficient use of resources.
“The Quad Steering Committee is not a political party organ and does not seek to replace or compete with any party structure. Its purpose is to strengthen collective effectiveness, ensuring that supporter activities are aligned, timely, and impactful”, the statement read.
Over the coming period, the Committee will engage with support groups to establish implementation frameworks, assign responsibilities, and set up monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure accountability and results.
Supporters of Peter Obi have been urged to remain united, disciplined, and ready to follow his lead on the political platform he chooses, with the Committee providing ongoing guidance and updates.
