Former Big Brother Naija housemate Pere Egbi has spoken out in support of David’s Christian Centre lead pastor, Kingsley Okonkwo, following public reactions to the pastor’s decision to get a tattoo.
Egbi dismissed claims that the tattoo undermines Okonkwo’s position as a Christian leader, arguing that outward appearance has never been a true measure of spirituality.
He noted that several pastors already embrace unconventional personal styles, including wearing braids, dreadlocks, earrings, or distinct hairstyles, questioning why a tattoo should be treated differently.
“I see nothing wrong with a pastor getting tattoos,” Egbi wrote. “We have pastors with braids, dreadlocks, pastors who wear earrings, and who jerrycurl their hair.”
The reality TV star further cautioned against judging people based on surface-level traits, suggesting that such assumptions can be misleading.
According to him, individuals often labelled as “carnal” may ultimately surprise many in matters of faith and spirituality.
“Some people would be amazed at the people they’d see in heaven,” he added. “People most of y’all write off here on earth as carnal. Some are in for a rude awakening.”
Egbi’s comments have added to the ongoing debate on social media about personal expression, religious leadership, and the boundaries of tradition within modern Christianity.
