The 75-organisation-member Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) Uganda is celebrating 30 years of existence in a compact week of activities, the Agroecology Week of Action (AWA) 2025, scheduled for October 27 to 31 at Hotel Africana, Kampala.
This was announced at a media briefing at Hotel Africana in Kampala on October 27, 2025.
Officials at the briefing, a collaboration with the ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries and the National Agroecology Actors, said the weeklong activities will provide platform for not less than 1,500 stakeholders to showcase their innovations, practices and achievements, to reflect on lessons learnt over the past three decades and to renew the commitment to a resilient and sustainable future.
The stakeholders will include small-scale farmers and producer groups, indigenous peoples and traditional knowledge holders, private sector and market actors, financial institutions, civil society organisations, development partners, consumers, the media and the public.
Officials are inviting anyone interested to attend these free-entrance activities. The outstanding activities include the 7th Annual National Agroecology Actors Symposium (NAAS) on October 28, focusing on showcasing successful agroecological interventions, brainstorming and dialogue on accelerating agroecological transitions aimed at sustainability by aligning markets, policies, finance and practice for transformative change.
The second one is the 4th Agroecologica Market Systems Expo (AMASE), taking place on October 29 and the third is the 15th Annual Indigenous and Traditional Food and Seed Fair, due on October 30 and 31. Lastly, PELUM Uganda’s 30th anniversary celebrations will be held on October 31.
