The manager of popular Nigerian streamer Peller, Bosa Lee, has responded after Peller was reportedly snubbed twice by American internet personality iShowSpeed during his Lagos visit last week.
According to reports by journalists, Peller attempted to approach iShowSpeed on two occasions, only to be dismissed by the American streamer’s security team.
The incident sparked a wave of criticism on social media, with many Nigerians condemning iShowSpeed for allegedly disrespecting one of Africa’s biggest streamers. Others pointed fingers at Peller’s management team for the misunderstanding.
iShowSpeed, who is currently touring Africa, defended his visit, stating, “This tour is to show African culture, and hidden talents.”
Speaking publicly about the situation, Bosa Lee explained that the key mistake may have been presenting Peller primarily as a streamer.
“Some people are saying his management did not reach out to Speed. Who told you that the management did not reach out? I had reached out to them before now, but he said no, that he is not collaborating with streamers,” Lee said.
He added, “I think that’s where we made a mistake by introducing Peller as a streamer.”
The incident highlights the growing attention on African content creators and the complexities of international collaborations in the streaming industry.
