Veteran actress Peju Ogunmola has announced her return to acting, months after the heartbreaking loss of her only child, Ayomikun.
In a heartfelt message shared on her Instagram page on Friday, Ogunmola reflected on her journey through grief, expressing gratitude to fans and colleagues who stood by her.
“A new month, a new dawn,” she said in the video. “The past months have been heavy, but your love, prayers, and condolences have carried me through the storm. Today I rise stronger, grateful, and ready to embrace my passion again. The screens have missed me… and I’m back, doing what I love most.”
Ogunmola’s son, Ayomikun, passed away in September after a brief illness in Ibadan, according to a statement issued by family spokesperson Yemi Amodu at the time. The family had also dismissed circulating rumors about the cause of death.
A beloved figure in Yoruba cinema, Ogunmola has been a prominent face in Nollywood for decades. She stepped away from acting and public events following her son’s passing, choosing to grieve privately.
Her return to the screen has since sparked emotional reactions from fans and fellow actors, many of whom expressed excitement and support in the comments section of her post.
The actress, who is married to fellow veteran comedian Sunday Omobolanle (Aluwe), is widely celebrated for her enduring impact on Nigerian theatre and film.
