A youth group, the Peoples Democratic Party Youth Agenda (PDPYA), has lauded the leadership zeal and efforts of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, towards rebuilding and repositioning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for future electoral success.
Also, the Kwara State Chairman of the PDP, Issa Bawa Adamu, has called on stakeholders to work as a united front to position the party as a viable alternative ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement issued in Ilorin and signed by its National Coordinator, Hon. Kazeem Adekanye, and National Founding Patron, Comrade Preye J. Ketebu-Brown, the group said: “There is no doubt that the efforts of the PDP leader, Mr. Wike, at returning the PDP to winning ways remain a great contribution to the development of the party.”
The group also congratulated the newly elected National Executive of the PDP, led by Chairman, Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed.
“We commend the peaceful and successful conduct of the recently concluded National Convention of our great party, which reflects the resilience and unity of our members,” the statement added.
It noted that PDPYA, established in 2017 as a national youth group within the party, participated in the convention and acknowledged the contributions of party members, particularly Wike’s support.
“The reconciliatory efforts of Chief Nyesom Wike have been instrumental in strengthening cohesion within the party, and we believe that collaboration between the new leadership and founding stakeholders is the right path toward rebuilding and repositioning the PDP for future success,” the statement said.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising Nigerian youths under the PDP umbrella to restore the party’s fortunes and advance its vision for national development.
Meanwhile, Adamu, speaking in Ilorin at the second anniversary of the PDP Kwara Central Strategy Team (KCST), stressed the importance of unity within the party.
“The strength of the PDP in Kwara will depend on how well we work together across generations, across local governments, and across different interests. Internal cohesion is our greatest asset as we prepare for the future,” he said.
He added: “As we look ahead, the task before us is clear—we must rebuild trust, expand our reach, and present a compelling vision that resonates with every Kwara citizen.”
Adamu also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to youth inclusion, noting that young people must be given opportunities to contribute and lead.
“Your energy must be matched with opportunity,” he said.
He highlighted key challenges facing young Nigerians, including insecurity, unemployment, and rising cost of living, stressing that the PDP must position itself as a credible alternative with practical solutions.
Earlier, President of the KCST, Mr. Olayinka Oladimeji Slam, said the group had sponsored over 20 students for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and 50 students for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations in Kwara Central.
He added that the initiative would enhance educational development in the area, while the group had also mobilised residents for voter registration to boost the party’s electoral chances.
