In the latest twist to the deepening crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dissolved the Board of Trustees (BoT) led by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, accusing it of losing credibility and moral authority.
The announcement was made in Abuja by the factional Acting National Chairman, Abdulrahman Muhammad, during a meeting hosted by Wike. Muhammad said the decision was aimed at restoring discipline and constitutional order within the party, which he claimed had been undermined under the previous leadership.
He alleged that the Wabara-led BoT had become “divided and ineffective,” noting that Wabara’s suspension by the Abia State chapter of the PDP made his continued leadership “untenable.”
Muhammad also criticised the suspended National Chairman, Umar Damagum, for fostering “moral decline and disregard for the rule of law” within the party.
Describing the reconstitution as a “symbol of rebirth,” Muhammad said the new BoT would act as the moral compass of the PDP, committed to integrity, fairness, and accountability as the opposition seeks to rebuild its credibility.
