The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has established a 12-member caretaker committee to manage party affairs in Adamawa State following the resignation of the former state chairman, Hamza Bello, along with other members of the state executive committee.
The decision follows the mass resignation of the party leadership in the state, some of whom later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), creating a leadership vacuum within the PDP structure.
The newly constituted committee is tasked with overseeing the party’s administration for a 30-day transitional period. It will be chaired by Belmon Dogo, while Shekarau Yerima will serve as secretary.
Speaking at the party secretariat in Yola, Dogo called on party members to remain united, assuring supporters that the PDP remains committed to democratic principles, good governance, and organisational stability despite the recent political developments.
He described the current leadership transition as a temporary phase rather than a setback, stressing that such moments should serve as opportunities to strengthen internal structures and advance meaningful party reforms.
The PDP National Working Committee is expected to collaborate with the caretaker committee to stabilise the party’s operations in Adamawa State within the 30-day mandate and prepare the ground for the emergence of a substantive state executive leadership.
