Paystack launches formal investigation after old tweets attributed to Olubi resurface online, sparking controversy across social media….
Paystack, one of Nigeria’s leading payment technology companies, has suspended its co-founder and chief technology officer, Ezra Olubi, following allegations of workplace sexual misconduct circulating on social media.
According to a report by TechCabal, the company initiated a formal investigation after posts containing explicit comments allegedly from Olubi’s old X account went viral on November 12.
The resurfaced tweets, reportedly shared between 2009 and 2013, featured sexually explicit jokes, including references to workplace environments, comments about colleagues’ bodies, and other inappropriate sexual remarks. Some screenshots also included troubling statements involving minors, bestiality, and sexualised depictions of anime characters.
Olubi’s X account has since been deactivated.
In a statement to TechCabal, Paystack confirmed that it had taken immediate action.
“Paystack is aware of the allegations involving our Co-founder, Ezra Olubi,” the company said. “We take matters of this nature extremely seriously. Effective immediately, Ezra has been suspended from all duties and responsibilities pending the outcome of a formal investigation.”
The company added that the review process will be “fair, transparent, and structured,” in line with its internal policies and commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
“Out of respect for the individuals involved and to protect the integrity of the process, we will not be commenting further until the investigation is complete,” the firm said.
Olubi has not issued any public statement regarding the allegations or the circulating screenshots. His X account was deactivated on November 13, 2025.
