Senior pastor of Mountain of Liberty and Miracle Ministry, Chris Okafor, has reversed the public apology he previously issued to Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, amid the lingering dispute over their alleged past relationship.
The controversy began last year when Ogala publicly accused the cleric of ending their relationship after allegedly promising to marry her. She claimed the relationship lasted for about eight years and demanded compensation from the pastor.
The allegations surfaced around the same time a video showing the clergyman with a young woman circulated on social media, intensifying public attention on the matter.
Ogala also accused the pastor of being involved in questionable and criminal activities. During the dispute, Okafor reportedly gave the actress $10,000, an amount she described as insignificant compared to the evidence she claimed to possess against him.
At the height of the controversy, Okafor publicly apologised during a church service, asking Ogala and other women he said he might have hurt in the past to forgive him.
However, despite the apology, the actress continued to criticise the cleric publicly.
In a recent development, Okafor announced that he was withdrawing the apology, stating that he had only issued it due to pressure from people close to him.
Speaking to his congregation in a video that has since gone viral on social media, the pastor insisted that he had no reason to apologise for something he claimed he did not do.
“There’s no apology for what I didn’t do or for someone I haven’t met face to face,” he said.
Okafor explained that his earlier decision to apologise was motivated by a desire to shield senior Christian leaders from being dragged into the controversy.
He mentioned prominent religious figures, including Bishop David Abioye and Matthew, stating that he apologised out of respect for them.
According to the pastor, his act of kneeling during the apology was also meant to honour those senior clerics rather than an admission of wrongdoing.
Referring to Ogala as “Jezebel,” Okafor said he intends to address the matter through legal channels.
Meanwhile, the controversy has been further complicated by allegations from the pastor’s second daughter, Amara, who previously accused him of assault and abuse and reportedly considered pursuing legal action.
The dispute continues to generate debate online, with both religious and entertainment circles closely following the unfolding developments.
