Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of Grace Nation Bible Ministry, has publicly responded to the ongoing controversy involving actress Doris Ogala, emphasizing the need for legal proof of allegations against him.
Addressing his congregation during a marriage thanksgiving on Sunday, Okafor stated, “He that alleges must prove,” and explained that God instructed him to remain silent on the matter for the time being. A video of his address has since gone viral on social media.
Okafor said that while being misrepresented can be painful, it is important not to respond to false accusations publicly. “We will never dignify a mad devil by replying. That would amount to glorifying the devil,” he said, adding that his faith and personal knowledge of God guide his actions.
He further stressed that the legal process is underway and encouraged patience. “There’s a law in this country that works, we follow the law. Everything you say to anybody, you must prove it in the law court…We are praying and following the mature way we should follow. The truth will come out,” Okafor said.
The pastor hinted that there are people involved behind the scenes, but declined to disclose details, citing ongoing investigations and court proceedings.
The controversy began when Ogala was arrested on Saturday, December 20, 2025, after publicly accusing Okafor of failing to fulfil a marriage promise. Her detention prompted widespread online reactions, with celebrities and social media influencers calling for her release. Some even threatened to present alleged evidence against the pastor and his associates.
Okafor’s statement marks the first time he has publicly addressed the scandal, focusing on faith, legal procedure, and restraint while the matter unfolds.
