Tension swept through Lekki Palm Estate on Thursday morning after a group of suspected miscreants attacked the residential community, claiming they were acting on the directive of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, and Oba Olumegbon.
Eyewitnesses said the individuals stormed the estate, invoking the names of the traditional rulers while carrying out their actions, triggering panic and fear among residents.
As of the time of filing this report, the claim that the group was sent by the Obas could not be independently verified. Efforts to obtain clarification from official palace sources were ongoing.
The incident drew a swift response from security operatives, with officers of the Lagos State Police Command arresting some of the suspects involved in the attack.
Police authorities confirmed that investigations have commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and to verify the authenticity of the claims made by the suspects.
