The Oyo State Police Command, working closely with the National Forest Rangers, has intensified operations to apprehend suspects behind the deadly Oloka Ranger Barrack attack.
The development followed a courtesy and appreciation visit to the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, by a delegation of officers from the National Forest Rangers. The team was led by the Assistant Conservator General (ACG) in charge of Ecology, ACG Muhammed, alongside ACG Ojo Connilious Oladipo, who oversees Planning, Research, and Statistics at the Rangers’ headquarters in Abuja. Officers from Old Oyo National Park were also present.
During the visit, ACG Muhammed commended the Oyo State Police Command for its swift response, noting that the rapid deployment of officers helped stabilize the affected area and prevent further escalation.
“The prompt action of the Police ensured law and order was maintained”, he said, adding that continued engagement with local communities has reassured residents in the impacted areas.
ACG Muhammed also pledged that the National Forest Rangers would maintain close collaboration with the Police to enhance security across Oyo State.
In his remarks, CP Haruna thanked the Rangers for their visit and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to joint security efforts.
“Cooperation among security agencies is essential to achieving a safer Nigeria, and we remain committed to this vision under the guidance of the Inspector-General of Police”, he said.
On the investigation into the Oloka Ranger Barrack attack, the Commissioner revealed that forensic evidence had been recovered from the scene and that intelligence-led operations were already helping to identify suspects.
“A manhunt is ongoing to apprehend all those responsible and every available resource is being deployed to bring them to justice”.
The Oyo State Police Command reassured the public of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while working closely with security partners to maintain peace and stability throughout the state.
