With political activities gathering momentum ahead of the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, has taken a firm stand for peace, lawful conduct and electoral integrity, assuring residents that his campaign would adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act.
Speaking during the February edition of the monthly Evening of Praise and Worship at Jibowu Hall, Government House, Ado-Ekiti, the governor emphasised that the forthcoming election must not threaten the peace and stability the state enjoyed.
Oyebanji urged politicians across party lines to conduct their campaigns responsibly, shun violence and avoid inflammatory rhetoric capable of dividing the people.
“As the candidate of my party, APC, I am bound by the Electoral Act. We will campaign with decency and within the limits of the law. Power belongs to God, and we will not trouble the state in pursuit of it,” the governor said.
He advised aspirants to accept electoral outcomes in good faith, noting that leadership ultimately rested on divine will and the choice of the people.
The governor also used the occasion to dedicate his recent “Governor of the Year 2025” awards to the people of Ekiti, describing the recognitions as collective achievements made possible by public support and prayers.
“If you have not elected me to be here, nobody will recognise me. These awards belong to the good people of Ekiti. Your mandate and support made them possible,” he stated.
Beyond the state, Oyebanji called on the congregation to pray for President Bola Tinubu, acknowledging what he described as the President’s commitment to national service and goodwill towards Ekiti State.
