Toyin Abraham’s latest project, Oversabi Aunty, has delivered an impressive commercial performance, emerging as Nollywood’s second-highest-grossing film of a weekend in 2025.
The comedy-drama, which marks Abraham’s directorial debut, has generated more than ₦382 million in box office revenue within just 11 days of release, underscoring its strong reception among cinema audiences.
Oversabi Aunty centres on a well-intentioned but overly intrusive woman whose constant efforts to solve other people’s problems spiral into comic chaos. Beneath the humour, the story explores personal boundaries, family dynamics, and life lessons that resonate with everyday experiences.
Momentum for the film began ahead of its official release, following an advance screening on December 18 that sparked widespread conversation online. It opened in cinemas across Nigeria the next day, December 19, and has maintained steady attendance since.
The production features a notable ensemble cast, including Mike Ezuruonye, Efe Irele, and Enioluwa Adeoluwa, whose performances have drawn positive feedback from viewers.
Reacting to the milestone, Abraham expressed appreciation to her supporters, describing the achievement as a significant personal and professional breakthrough. She credited audience loyalty and faith for the film’s rapid success, noting that what previously took weeks to achieve had now been accomplished in less than two.
The filmmaker also encouraged moviegoers to continue supporting the film, which remains in cinemas nationwide, describing it as more than entertainment but a story rooted in relatable, real-life themes.
With its box office showing and sustained buzz, Oversabi Aunty reinforces Toyin Abraham’s growing influence in Nollywood—both in front of and behind the camera.
