French attacker Ousmane Dembele and Spanish midfielder Aitana Bonmatí clinched the main individual prizes at The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony held in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday night.
France and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward Ousmane Dembele, 28, secured the Men’s Best award. This honor follows his Ballon d’Or victory in September, recognizing his exceptional 2024/2025 season with PSG, which included the club’s historic first-ever Champions League title.
Speaking after the ceremony, which took place ahead of PSG’s Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo in Qatar, Dembele credited his teammates for his success:
“I wanted to thank my teammates. Hard work pays off; it’s been a fantastic year for me, both individually and collectively.”
Barcelona midfield maestro Aitana Bonmatí, 27, was crowned the Women’s Best Player for the third consecutive time, matching her achievement of also picking up her third straight Ballon d’Or award in the autumn.
Bonmatí’s continued dominance in individual awards comes despite a year of mixed results for her club and national teams, as she experienced defeats in both the Champions League final and the European Championship final last season.
The winners of The Best awards were determined by a weighted vote involving four key groups: fans, media representatives, national team captains, and national team coaches.
