Victor Osimhen has once again stressed the importance of securing Nigeria’s place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the Super Eagles push toward a return to football’s biggest stage.
Nigeria missed the last edition of the tournament in Qatar, but Eric Chelle’s men are now just one step away from booking a ticket to the global showpiece. The Super Eagles maintained their momentum with a commanding 4–1 victory over Gabon in the semi-final of the playoffs on Thursday.
The three-time African champions will now confront the Democratic Republic of Congo in Sunday’s decisive final in Rabat, where a win would move them into the intercontinental playoffs.
Osimhen, who scored twice in extra time against Gabon, expressed full confidence in the team’s ability to finish the job.
“We can get it done,” Osimhen told newsmen.
“We have the squad to actualize this dream of going to the World Cup because everyone wants to go to the World Cup.”
The Galatasaray forward highlighted the collective hunger within the squad as they aim to restore Nigeria’s presence on the world stage.
