Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen needed painkiller injections to face Liverpool in the Champions League, according to Turkish football transfer expert Süleyman Rodop.
The Nigerian scored the only goal of the game at Rams Park, converting a first-half penalty to hand the Turkish champions a 1-0 victory.
Osimhen had suffered ankle ligament damage while on international duty with Nigeria against Rwanda in a World Cup qualifier earlier this month.
Rodop told Habersarikirmizi that the 25-year-old insisted on playing despite the injury.
“A day before the match, he said, ‘I have to play in this match, I will play with injections if necessary,’” he said.
Galatasaray face Beşiktaş in the Süper Lig this weekend, though it is unclear if Osimhen will be fit.
