In a demonstration of elite professional commitment, Galatasaray’s star forward Victor Osimhen reportedly declined an early discharge from medical care following a surgical procedure on his arm. According to insights shared by Turkish sports journalist and TV100 commentator Haluk Yürekli, the Nigerian international chose to remain under clinical supervision longer than initially scheduled to ensure his return to the pitch is as swift as possible.
The surgery took place last Monday to address an injury the striker sustained during Galatasaray’s hard-fought Champions League Round of 16 second-leg encounter against Liverpool earlier this month. While the club had originally anticipated his return home the following day, Osimhen personally lobbied the team’s management to allow him to remain in the facility for continued specialized treatment.
To ensure an undisturbed recovery environment, stringent measures were implemented at the hospital. Reports indicate that a security detail was positioned at his suite, with access restricted even for close relatives during the critical hours of his post-operative care. The prolific goalscorer was finally permitted to leave the medical center this afternoon, marking the next phase of his rehabilitation.
“Victor Osimhen underwent surgery last Monday morning. The public was informed that Osimhen would be discharged the following day.
“However, Osimhen made a request to the administrators, saying, ‘I don’t want to be discharged; I want my care to continue here so I can return sooner.’
“A security guard was stationed outside his room, and even his immediate family wasn’t allowed in. He was discharged this afternoon,” Yürekli said as quoted by Habersarikirmizi.
