Seventeen Super Eagles players, including Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, took part in Nigeria’s first training session in Polokwane, South Africa, on Tuesday ahead of Friday’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho.
The session began at 6pm local time, with Benjamin Federick arriving late and expected to join Wednesday’s training. The camp, based at The Ranch Hotel, now has 18 players, while five more—including in-form Sevilla striker Akor Adams—are expected to arrive today.
Assistant coach Daniel Ogunmodede also joined the team after guiding Remo Stars to a 2–0 NPFL win over Wikki Tourists.
The Super Eagles, currently fourth in their group with 11 points, must win their last two matches—against Lesotho on Friday and Benin in Uyo next week—to keep their qualification hopes alive.
Lesotho will host the tie at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane due to their lack of a FIFA-approved venue. Kick-off is at 4pm Nigerian time.
