Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen has shared a fresh update on his condition following the hamstring injury he sustained during Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying playoff loss to DR Congo on Sunday.
The Super Eagles striker picked up the injury during the tightly contested final in Rabat and was forced off at halftime, with Akor Adams coming on in his place. His withdrawal significantly reduced Nigeria’s attacking threat, allowing DR Congo to grow into the game before eventually prevailing 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw stretched to 120 minutes.
Osimhen’s departure proved decisive as the Congolese side tightened their grip on the match, ultimately securing the intercontinental playoff ticket for March 2026.
Speaking to A Spor at the Istanbul airport on Sunday night after returning from international duty, the 26-year-old addressed concerns about his fitness, saying (via Habersarikirmizi), “My injury is not very serious.”
The Nigerian star will now focus on regaining full fitness ahead of Galatasaray’s upcoming Turkish Super Lig encounter against Gençlerbirliği on Saturday.
Osimhen, who completed a permanent move from Napoli to the Turkish champions during the previous summer transfer window, will hope to be available as the club continues its domestic campaign.
