Veteran Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has appealed to members of the film industry who continue to support the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to reassess their position in light of growing insecurity across Nigeria.
In a video shared online, Aiyeola expressed concern over the recent attack on Christians in Jos, Plateau State, describing it as another tragic incident that has not received sufficient public attention. She noted that the political season may be overshadowing critical national issues, including safety and security.
Addressing her colleagues directly, the actress urged them to prioritise integrity over personal gain. She warned against allowing financial benefits, influence, or status to shape political choices, stressing the importance of acting with a clear conscience.
Aiyeola clarified that her message was not intended to target any individual but to encourage reflection within the industry. She emphasised that while everyone has the right to political preferences, such decisions should consider the long-term impact on future generations.
Her remarks add to a growing list of voices within the entertainment sector calling for accountability and more responsible leadership as concerns over insecurity continue to mount nationwide.
