Nollywood actress Omowunmi Dada has shared her perspective on fame, saying that public recognition has enriched her life rather than taken anything away from it.
The actress explained that being in the spotlight has made her more conscious of how she interacts with people, particularly fans who admire her work.
According to Dada, the awareness that many people look up to her encourages her to treat others with kindness, regardless of their background or social status.
She noted that there are moments when interacting with fans can be challenging, especially when she is not feeling well. However, she still tries to respond positively.
“There are times I have menstrual cramps and a fan sees me and tries so hard to greet me,” she said. “Even when I’m not in a good mood because of the pain, I still try to attend to them with a smile.”
Dada explained that such moments remind her that meeting a favourite celebrity can be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many fans.
“That person might not have the chance to see me again, so how I respond in that moment could determine the kind of impression they have about me,” she added.
While the actress sees fame as a positive influence, she also emphasised the importance of maintaining personal boundaries.
According to her, the experience of being a public figure has taught her how to balance kindness with self-respect.
“Fame has given me the awareness to be kind to people, but not to take nonsense from anyone,” she said.
