Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has shed light on the circumstances surrounding her reported exclusion from the Nigerian film industry years ago.
Speaking during a recent interview while promoting her latest project, “Mother’s Love,” the actress said she and several prominent colleagues were sidelined after advocating for improved standards and professionalism in Nollywood.
According to her, the group, which included Genevieve Nnaji, Ramsey Nouah, Jim Iyke, Stella Damasus, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and Nkem Owoh faced resistance from marketers who controlled much of the industry at the time.
Omotola explained that their efforts to introduce structure and raise production standards were perceived negatively, leading to them being labelled as difficult.
She noted that although a reconciliation meeting was later organised to resolve the dispute, she chose not to attend.
The actress also addressed public perceptions about her relationship with Genevieve Nnaji, clarifying that while they maintain cordial communication, they are not particularly close friends.
Her comments offer insight into past tensions within Nollywood and highlight ongoing conversations about professionalism and industry reforms.
The revelations come as Omotola continues to promote “Mother’s Love,” her latest film project.
