Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has said that divorce is not a consideration in her marriage, citing the strong bond she shares with her husband, Matthew Ekeinde.
Speaking in a recent interview, the actress reflected on her more than three-decade-long marriage, describing her husband as a supportive and selfless partner who has consistently trusted her throughout their relationship.
According to Jalade-Ekeinde, the strength of their union is built on mutual respect and understanding, which has allowed both partners to thrive individually while maintaining a stable home.
She, however, noted that her stance should not be interpreted as a universal standard for other couples.
“Divorce isn’t an option for me. It doesn’t mean it isn’t an option for you,” she said, explaining that marriage is deeply personal and varies from one couple to another.
The actress stressed that no two marriages are identical, as every relationship involves different personalities, circumstances and expectations.
Reflecting on her own experience, Jalade-Ekeinde said her husband has always given her the freedom to pursue her career while maintaining complete trust in their relationship.
She described him as someone without ego, adding that their marriage has remained free from many of the conflicts that sometimes affect long-term relationships.
According to the actress, the couple has never had disagreements related to infidelity, noting that trust has been a central pillar of their union.
Jalade-Ekeinde said the level of confidence they have in each other has allowed their relationship to remain stable over the years.
The actress also highlighted that the factors that make her marriage work may differ from those in other relationships, reinforcing her belief that every couple must find what works best for them.
