Veteran Nigerian actress Omotola Jalade has addressed rumors of a feud with fellow actress Genevieve Nnaji, insisting that the two were never at odds.
In an interview with Yanga FM, Omotola clarified that reports of tension were largely fueled by fans and the media.
“People don’t need to be best friends,” she said. “Na them start the quarrel before we know say we dey quarrel. So, we have to catch up with the quarrel. There was no quarrel.”
When asked if there had been a long-standing dispute prior to their collaboration on the EJ movie, Omotola explained that any perceived tension was the result of public perception rather than reality.
“We were young, everybody dey do her own thing,” she said. “You know how the industry is. They pitch you against someone, talk say na this one be the hottest girl, na that one be the hottest girl. That kind tension go dey normally, but people dey read am as other things.”
Omotola also likened the situation to rivalries in the music industry, noting that fan and media speculation often amplifies minor disagreements into perceived conflicts.
Her comments underscore the challenges celebrities face in managing public narratives and highlight the influence of fans and social media in shaping perceptions of personal relationships.
