Nigerian singer Stanley Omah Didia, better known as Omah Lay, has expressed his excitement over receiving his first-ever Grammy nomination, but with an unexpected twist.
The Soso hitmaker earned his maiden nod alongside Davido for their collaboration “With You”, which was shortlisted in the Best African Music Performance category for the 68th Grammy Awards.
Taking to his Instagram page, Omah Lay admitted that while the nomination thrilled him, he doesn’t place much value on awards.
“I’m excited about this Grammy nomination haha but fr fr I don’t give a sh!t about awards,” he wrote.
“Yeah but I really want it for OBO! He is the realest friend I’ve had in a while; he stood by me during my hardest times.”
The singer’s heartfelt message has resonated with fans, highlighting the close bond between both artists.
Davido, despite four previous Grammy nominations, is yet to take home a golden gramophone. He remains a consistent nominee in the Best African Music Performance category since its introduction in 2023.
The 2026 Grammy Awards will be held on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with a live global broadcast on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
