Rising Afrobeats star Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has openly criticized the Nigerian music scene, describing it as “boring.”
On his Snapchat account, the ‘Soso’ hitmaker declared,”Una music industry is boring AF! Spirit is coming to f**k up the continent in a bit.”
Omah Lay’s bold statement reflects a growing sentiment among some artists who believe the Nigerian music industry is losing its creative edge.
His comments follow similar concerns raised by fellow Nigerian singer Slimcase, who recently suggested that Afrobeats artists release fewer songs to build excitement and anticipation around their music.
Slimcase warned that the constant flood of releases is “killing” the genre and contributing to a decline in quality and originality.
With Omah Lay promising to “spice up” African music soon, fans are eagerly awaiting fresh sounds that could reinvigorate the industry.
