Nigerian skit maker Oluwadolarz has opened up about a childhood abuse experience, using his story to call for greater awareness around child protection and parental vigilance.
In a video shared on Instagram, the comedian alleged that he was abused at the age of six by a female neighbour while living with his grandmother at the time. According to him, the incidents occurred repeatedly over the course of about a year.
Dolarz said the experience left lasting emotional effects that later influenced aspects of his personal life and relationships. He explained that speaking publicly about the issue was difficult but necessary to encourage conversations around the safety of young children.
The content creator appealed to parents and guardians to pay closer attention to their children’s environments and create safe spaces where minors can speak openly about uncomfortable experiences. He stressed that abuse affecting boys is often overlooked and deserves equal attention.
He added that the purpose of sharing his story was to raise awareness and help prevent similar situations, noting that many victims struggle silently with long-term consequences.
His disclosure comes amid wider online conversations about child protection following controversy surrounding resurfaced social media posts linked to singer Simisola Kosoko. The singer has since clarified that she opposes sexual violence and said the posts were misinterpreted.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has stated that legal prosecution in abuse cases requires a victim to formally come forward.
The discussion has renewed calls from advocates for increased awareness, early reporting, and stronger protections for children.
