The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, has declared that Nigeria’s security challenges are not insurmountable, expressing confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is adopting the right strategies to address the menace.
The monarch spoke with journalists on Friday after paying a thank-you visit to President Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, following the President’s attendance at his coronation ceremony on September 27, 2025.
Oba Ladoja described insecurity as Nigeria’s most pressing challenge but said the current approach of the Tinubu administration shows clear commitment to restoring safety and stability across the country.
“I don’t think it is insurmountable, but by and large we believe that the President is tackling it correctly now,” the Olubadan said.
He urged the Federal Government to further strengthen interventions in food security and healthcare, stressing that farmers’ access to farmlands is critical to boosting food production nationwide.
According to him, improving healthcare infrastructure should also be prioritised, noting the need for standard hospitals capable of delivering quality medical services to Nigerians.
“We expect the President to work more on food security and healthcare. Farmers find it difficult to go to their farms, and insecurity is already spreading to the South as well,” he added.
Commenting on economic reforms, the first-class monarch lauded the policies of the Tinubu administration, describing economic stability as central to national development. He expressed optimism that the reforms would yield positive results in the long term.
“I believe the economy has to be fixed, and it is being fixed. We hope that by the time he leaves office in 2031, Nigeria will be a country we will all be proud of,” Oba Ladoja said.
He further noted that Nigeria’s situation is not as dire as often portrayed, pointing out that states now have greater financial capacity to meet their obligations compared to previous years, which should complement federal efforts.
Oba Ladoja also used the visit to convey the appreciation of the people of Ibadan to President Tinubu for attending his coronation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
