Veteran movie marketer Akeem Olatunji Balogun, widely known as Olasco Films, has responded to allegations levelled against him by actors Okunnu and Austin Emmanuel, describing both men as ingrates.
Balogun made the remarks during an interview with actor Tunde Ola-Yusuf, following separate claims by the actors in recent weeks.
Okunnu’s Allegations
Okunnu had earlier accused Olasco Films of withholding profits from a movie produced about 16 years ago. He claimed he had not forgiven the marketer, alleging that all proceeds from the project were retained.
In his response, Balogun denied the claim and stated that he paid Okunnu N2 million to produce the film at the time. He added that production costs during that period ranged between N700,000 and N1 million.
Balogun likened the actor’s reaction to someone discarding help after achieving success, insisting that the financial arrangement was clear.
Austin Emmanuel’s Claims
The controversy follows separate allegations by actor Austin Emmanuel, who accused Olasco Films and his associate, Toymax Films, of blacklisting him in the industry.
Emmanuel, who has been largely absent from the screen in recent years, also accused Toymax of personal misconduct involving his partner, Aisha Raji.
Addressing the claims, Balogun rejected the accusations and said he played a role in promoting the film that brought Emmanuel recognition. He suggested the actor was attempting to gain attention by invoking his name.
Awaiting Further Reactions
As of the time of filing this report, neither Okunnu nor Austin Emmanuel has issued a fresh response to Balogun’s latest comments.
The dispute adds to ongoing tensions within parts of Nollywood, where financial disagreements and claims of blacklisting occasionally surface among practitioners.
