Nigerian rapper Olamide Adedeji, widely known as Olamide Baddo, has shared his approach to handling criticism, saying no one aiming for success can avoid public scrutiny.
Speaking during a recent livestream, the YBNL boss said backlash is a natural consequence of ambition and visibility. According to him, the key to navigating negativity is to remain focused on personal goals rather than getting distracted by online chatter.
“If you want to blow or be great in life and you don’t want people to talk about you, then you’re not ready,” he said. “People will come for you and chat sh*t about you, it’s now left for you to be focused.”
His remarks come shortly after he faced intense criticism for calling Wizkid “the greatest Afrobeats artist after Fela.” The statement sparked heated reactions, especially among fans of Burna Boy and Davido, who rejected his ranking and attacked him for the comment.
Responding to the backlash, Olamide said his stance was simply a personal opinion and urged people not to base their worth on someone else’s views. No “reasonable person,” he added, should let another man’s opinion define their greatness.
The rapper maintained that regardless of public reaction, he stands by his belief and remains unfazed by the controversy.
