Ace Nigerian rapper Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide Baddo, has addressed the controversy surrounding his recent statement that Wizkid is “the greatest Afrobeats artist after Fela.”
The remark, made during a press conference in Toronto, Canada, drew immediate reactions online, with fans of Burna Boy and Davido disputing his claim.
Taking to X on Friday, Olamide stressed that opinions should be respected and that the music scene has room for all top artists.
“Honestly, this whole lengthy 3-way conversation is pretty much whatever. You can’t diminish anyone’s greatness, whether they’re A-list, B-list, or anything else. Feel free to believe what you want or support whoever you choose—there’s plenty of room in the sky for everyone,” he wrote.
He added that established artists like Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid are unlikely to take offense at differing perspectives, suggesting that such openness is part of what has helped them achieve success.
Olamide’s comments highlight the ongoing fan debates in Nigeria’s Afrobeats scene, underscoring the passion and loyalty surrounding the country’s leading performers.
