Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Wednesday announced a ₦10 million reward for Team Edo following their third-place finish at the 9th National Youth Games in Delta State.
The event, held from August 29 to September 6, 2025, saw Team Edo claim 33 gold, 18 silver, and 28 bronze medals, finishing behind Lagos and hosts Delta.
Receiving the athletes at Government House, Benin City, alongside his deputy, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, Governor Okpebholo commended their resilience and dedication, stressing that their performance brought pride to the state.
“This is an impressive achievement, but I challenge you to aim higher. Edo deserves first place, and with commitment and discipline, we will get there,” the governor said.
