Nigerian comedian and actor Okey Bakassi has sparked conversation after suggesting that men play a major role in promoting a sense of entitlement among women, particularly those considered attractive.
Speaking during an appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Bakassi argued that everyday interactions between men and women have, over time, reinforced the idea that physical beauty can translate into advantages.
According to him, many men, often in a bid to impress or show interest, offer unsolicited favors and privileges to attractive women, inadvertently shaping expectations.
He pointed to common street interactions in Nigerian cities, where men approach women with offers of assistance or convenience, suggesting that such behavior sends a broader message about entitlement.
Bakassi noted that repeated exposure to these gestures can create a pattern, leading some women to believe that appearance alone can ease life’s challenges or reduce the need for personal effort.
The comedian stressed that this mindset did not develop overnight but is the result of long-standing social conditioning reinforced by both genders.
His remarks have added to ongoing conversations about gender dynamics, societal expectations, and the influence of everyday behavior on cultural attitudes.
