The Ogun State Ministry of Budget and Planning has opened a digital channel to enable citizens and stakeholders contribute to the state’s 2026 budget.
In a statement signed on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Olaolu Olabimtan, the ministry said the initiative reflects Governor Dapo Abiodun’s commitment to inclusive governance and participatory budgeting.
Olabimtan noted that the platform would allow residents of Ogun—whether at home, elsewhere in Nigeria, or in the diaspora—to share ideas that will help shape the upcoming budget.
According to him, the process is designed to ensure that the 2026 fiscal plan contains adequate provisions to cater to the diverse needs of all categories of residents.
The commissioner explained that governance is ultimately about service delivery and meeting the legitimate needs of the people, adding that the feedback mechanism would improve public understanding of government’s budget and strengthen citizens’ participation in its formulation, implementation, and assessment.
He further highlighted that the administration’s development agenda is anchored on five strategic pillars, known as ISEYA: Infrastructure, Social Welfare and Well-being, Education, Youth Empowerment/Culture/Religion, and Agriculture.
“The State Government is conscious of the fact that engagement with the citizenry is a core part of good governance.
“We urge the public to take advantage of this digital platform and make their contributions as we begin the process of planning for 2026”, Olabimtan said.
