Bayelsa Queens head coach Whyte Ogbonda has praised his team’s resilience following a hard-fought victory against Pacesetter Queens in their latest Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership fixture. The “Prosperity Girls” secured a 2–0 win at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, maintaining their flawless start to the season.
Goals from Blessing Ilivieda and Aminat Folorunsho ensured the defending champions took all three points, though Ogbonda admitted the visitors from Ibadan provided a stern defensive challenge.
The coach noted that while the primary objective was achieved, the team struggled with efficiency in the final third during the latter half of the match. He observed that the Pacesetters’ tactical adjustments in the second period disrupted the home side’s rhythm, leading to several missed opportunities as the players became overly eager to extend their lead.
“It’s a good thing that we won, we actually needed more goals which we couldn’t get, but what is of utmost importance is the 3 points and we got it. The team we played derailed our plan in the second half and that really destabilized us, also my girls were too much in a hurry that was why they missed lots of scoring chances.”
