Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has opened up about a near-death experience following a tonsil surgery that nearly claimed his life.
Speaking in a recent interview, the “Declan Rice” crooner revealed that he underwent the surgery around the time he released the chart-topping single.
“That’s so crazy because I thought I was going to die. When I dropped Declan Rice, that’s when I did the surgery. I took out my tonsils,” he said. “This is the first time I’m saying this on camera.”
Odumodublvck explained that what was meant to be a simple 20 to 30-minute procedure unexpectedly stretched into a grueling five-hour operation.
“Surgery of 20 minutes or 30 minutes took five hours. The guy that was doing the surgery said that in 12 years of doing that surgery, he had never asked for help. But that day, he did,” the rapper recounted.
According to him, a miraculous twist saved his life when the assisting doctor, who usually lived an hour away, happened to be just two minutes from the hospital.
“When he called, the doctor was two minutes away at a filling station. So he just came in, like an angel, and left quietly after the surgery,” Odumodublvck said.
After being discharged, the rapper said he continued to struggle with fear, even telling his 71-year-old mother he might not survive.
“I was telling my mother that I’m not going to make it,” he admitted.
Odumodublvck’s revelation sheds light on a difficult chapter in his life, one that underscores both his vulnerability and gratitude for a second chance.
