Nigerian rapper and singer Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has described politics in Nigeria as “shambolic,” arguing that power often corrupts even the best-intentioned leaders.
Speaking during a recent episode of the BET Talks podcast, the “Declan Rice” crooner said the country’s political system mirrors a global problem where leadership easily becomes tainted by influence and greed.
“Politics in Nigeria is a shambolic scene like everywhere in the world. When you give man power, it never really goes as planned regardless of whether the person is good or bad,” he said. “If the person is bad, bad people will make him worse. And if the person is good, bad people will try to contaminate the good.”
Odumodublvck also criticized the mindset of many Nigerians, who he said focus their frustration solely on the President while neglecting to hold other public officials accountable.
“Nigerians have been so brainwashed that when there is a problem, the first thing they think about is the president,” he said. “You have your local chairman, councillor, and senator directly representing you, but you’re holding only the president responsible for all the challenges our society is facing.”
The artist urged citizens to broaden their understanding of governance and civic responsibility, stressing that meaningful change requires holding every level of government accountable, from local councils to the national assembly.
