Popular Anambra-based cleric, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, widely known as Odumeje, has offered words of encouragement to Afrobeats superstar Davido following his loss at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
Odumeje described the singer as an exceptional talent whose achievements already place him above the need for further validation through awards. According to the cleric, Davido’s life, journey, and impact on the music industry are themselves worthy of recognition.
“There is one of our brothers that I love so much. That is a very great musician, and that is Davido,” Odumeje said. “You are already a generational award, awarded a lot of awards.”
He stressed that no new accolade could significantly add to Davido’s legacy, insisting that the singer’s success and influence speak louder than trophies.
“Your life is an award. Your step is an award,” Odumeje added, urging the artiste not to allow the Grammy outcome to dampen his spirit.
The cleric further advised Davido to remain confident, warning against allowing critics or public opinion to undermine his joy, creativity, or self-belief.
“Don’t allow ordinary somebody to come and quench the fire of your joy,” he said. “Go out and get more inspiration to shock the world with another new song.”
Odumeje reminded the singer that he remains at the top of his game and should continue inspiring fans through his music, rather than focusing on spaces where he feels unappreciated.
Davido was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category at the 2026 Grammy Awards but lost the award to South African singer Tyla.
Despite the outcome, the Afrobeats star has received widespread support from fans, colleagues, and family members, including his wife, Chioma, who publicly praised his influence and contribution to global music.
The Grammy loss has not diminished Davido’s standing in the industry, with many supporters maintaining that his cultural impact and global reach remain unmatched.
