Former Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has dismissed widespread rumours circulating on social media claiming that he has died. His former Commissioner for Information, Don Adinuba, described the reports as false, insisting the ex-governor is alive and in good health.
The internet was flooded Friday afternoon with claims that Obiano had died in the United Kingdom after battling health challenges, causing tension across Anambra State. However, the former governor, speaking through Adinuba, refuted the speculation. Adinuba stated that he personally called Obiano, who confirmed that he is alive and well.
“His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano, is hale and hearty. Those spreading rumours about his death will face the consequences of peddling misinformation,” he said.
Adinuba added that Obiano is not in the United Kingdom, as suggested by the rumour, but currently resides in the United States. “I spoke with him at length, and he is perfectly fine,” he said.
A member of the Obiano Diaspora Club also confirmed that former Chief of Staff to the governor, Prof. Joe Asike, placed a call to Obiano, who spoke with members of the forum and expressed gratitude that the false report had been debunked.
“It has been confirmed by the former Chief of Staff. Prof. Joe Asike said the rumour of Gov. Willie Obiano’s death is a pack of lies from mischief makers. He spoke directly with the former governor in a 30-minute conversation,” the member stated.
