Businessman and socialite Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has officially received his appointment letter as the South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement.
The appointment was confirmed on Tuesday through a post shared on Obi Cubana’s Instagram page. It followed a visit by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, to the businessman’s residence on Monday night.
In the post, Obi Cubana disclosed that the visit involved wide-ranging discussions and formally marked the presentation of his appointment letter. He also addressed the mixed reactions that have trailed his acceptance of the role.
According to him, meaningful progress is achieved through active participation rather than detachment.
“Regarding my recent appointment as South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he wrote.
Obi Cubana assured that taking on the new position would not affect his values, stressing that integrity, community development and responsible leadership would continue to guide his actions.
“Service continues to guide me, and this new role does nothing to alter my commitment to integrity, community growth, and responsible leadership,” he added.
He further described President Bola Tinubu as “a City Boy and a man of commerce,” noting that inclusive participation remains central to achieving Nigeria’s national aspirations.
“Our nation’s leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is equally a City Boy and a man of commerce. All of us need all of us in order to achieve our national aspirations and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do,” he said.
The businessman also urged Nigerians to respect differing opinions and focus on productive dialogue that drives national development.
“Let’s respect differing views, keep conversations vibrant, and stay focused on building real value. The moment is now, we move!” he concluded.
