Nigerian businessman and social influencer Obi Cubana has addressed public reactions trailing his recent appointment as South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, following a visit by Seyi Tinubu to his home.
Cubana shared the development in a post on his Instagram page today, revealing that Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and patron of the City Boy Movement, paid him a visit where they held discussions on national issues and leadership.
In the post, Obi Cubana acknowledged the mixed reactions that followed his appointment but insisted that meaningful progress can only be achieved through engagement rather than distance. “Regarding my recent appointment as South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he wrote.
The entrepreneur further stressed that the new role does not alter his values or commitment to service, community development, and integrity. “Service continues to guide me, and this new role does nothing to alter my commitment to integrity, community growth, and responsible leadership,” Cubana stated.
He explained his decision to align with the City Boy Movement, noting that influence is often limited when one operates from the outside. “I’ve learned that influence is limited from the outside, so yes, here we are! I am a City Boy through and through, inside and out,” he added.
Cubana also described President Bola Tinubu as a leader with strong commercial instincts, calling for collective responsibility in national development. “Our nation’s leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is equally a City Boy and a man of commerce. All of us need all of us in order to achieve our national aspirations and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do,” he said.
He concluded by urging Nigerians to respect differing opinions while remaining focused on progress. “Let’s respect differing views, keep conversations vibrant, and stay focused on building real value. The moment is now, we move!” Cubana wrote, thanking supporters for their goodwill toward what he described as a more inclusive future.
Obi Cubana was recently named South-East Director of the City Boy Movement, a youth focused political platform aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. His appointment was formally presented by Seyi Tinubu during a strategic forum attended by key stakeholders and leaders of the movement.
The City Boy Movement, established in 2022, has since expanded nationwide, mobilising youths and women to support government policies and reforms, with Cubana’s appointment expected to strengthen grassroots engagement across the South-East region.
