Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is backing Nigeria to claim victory when they face South Africa in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday night in Bloemfontein.
Nigeria, currently third in Group C with 10 points from seven matches, must secure maximum points to close the gap on Bafana Bafana, who sit top of the group with 16 points.
The encounter is expected to be fiercely contested, with the home side buoyed by passionate local support. However, Nwabali insists the Super Eagles are unfazed and ready to deliver.
“I feel like we have a very strong squad to match any country. I don’t see them beating us. I know we respect them, but they are not favourites,” the Chippa United shot-stopper said.
“They are doing well, even topping the group. I believe it is going to be a tough game tomorrow but we will come out stronger.”
The clash in Bloemfontein could prove pivotal in determining Nigeria’s qualification hopes, with just two matches left after Tuesday’s showdown.
