The Kaduna State Council of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has commended Governor Uba Sani for approving and implementing the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) and the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for healthcare workers across the state.
The commendation was contained in a letter jointly signed by the State Chairman, Ishaku Yakubu, and the State Secretary, Christiana Bawa, and addressed to the governor on Tuesday.
Describing the decision as “a significant act of fairness and magnanimity,” the association said it had restored the confidence of nurses and midwives in the current administration while rekindling hope in the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“This singular act of magnanimity and fairness has rekindled the hope of many dedicated nurses in your administration and in the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President,” the statement read.
According to NANNM, Governor Sani’s action demonstrates genuine commitment to the welfare of healthcare workers and reflects his passion for strengthening Kaduna’s healthcare delivery system.
The council further praised the governor for making the decision despite competing demands on the state’s limited resources, noting that the implementation has boosted staff morale, improved productivity, and positioned Kaduna as a model of labour-friendly governance in Nigeria.
NANNM pledged its continued loyalty, dedication, and professional service in support of the administration’s health sector transformation agenda.
It will be recalled that on September 4, 2025, health workers in Kaduna State heaved a sigh of relief following Governor Sani’s approval of the 2024 CONHESS and hazard allowance, effective September 2025—a move widely celebrated by the medical community.
